El 7 de juny de l&#8217;any 1926, que aleshores queia en dilluns, l\u2019arquitecte havia estat atropellat per un tramvia. Al principi, el van confondre amb un captaire. Morir\u00e0 el dijous dia 10. El seu enterrament, dissabte 12, va ser digne d\u2019un rei. L\u2019acte final va tenir lloc, com no podia ser d\u2019altra manera, a la Sagrada Fam\u00edlia, on seria enterrat. Els encarregats de la m\u00fasica f\u00fanebre van ser els membres de l\u2019Orfe\u00f3 Catal\u00e0, al capdavant, el seu director, Llu\u00eds Millet, una de les principals figures de la m\u00fasica en \u00e8poca modernista. \u00c9s la imatge que mostrem a la cap\u00e7alera de l\u2019article. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Per ser precisos, la pe\u00e7a triada va ser el R<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00e8quiem <\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">de Tom\u00e1s Luis de Vict\u00f2ria, un dels principals representants de la polifonia del Renaixement espanyol. Durant anys, els dos amics havien caminat moltes vegades junts. Els dos amics compartien, sobretot, una gran passi\u00f3 pel cant gregori\u00e0, la m\u00fasica sacra de l\u2019edat mitjana, i la polifonia del Renaixement, dos estils que poca gent associa amb el modernisme catal\u00e0, per\u00f2 que van gaudir d\u2019una gran consideraci\u00f3 en aquell moment, encara que sigui un tema poc estudiat i divulgat (1).<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">En la seg\u00fcent foto, podem veure a Gaud\u00ed i Millet entre els participants del primer curs de cant gregori\u00e0 al Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana, celebrat el 1916. A finals d\u2019aquest segle, un grup de monjos va crear el moviment anomenat <\/span>cecilianisme (nom<span data-contrast=\"auto\"> derivat de santa Cec\u00edlia, patrona cat\u00f2lica de la m\u00fasica). El seu objectiu era recuperar la simplicitat de la m\u00fasica original de la lit\u00fargia cat\u00f2lica, \u00e9s a dir, el cant gregori\u00e0 i algunes de les obres polif\u00f2niques del Renaixement, com les obres de Tom\u00e1s Luis de Vict\u00f2ria&#8230;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Finalment, el 22 de novembre, dia de Santa Cec\u00edlia, del 1903, el mateix any en qu\u00e8 Gaud\u00ed finalitzava la Torre Bellesguard, el papa Pius X va promulgar el Motu Proprio <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Tra le sollecitudini<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, un influent decret que fixava les bases del retorn a la puresa de la primera m\u00fasica cristiana (2).<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A Catalunya, la causa va trobar molts defensors, malgrat que, com ja hem dit, el tema ha sigut poc estudiat i encara menys divulgat. Tom\u00e1s Luis de Vict\u00f2ria, menystingut durant molt temps, va ser recuperat per Felip Pedrell, el principal music\u00f2leg en temps de Gaud\u00ed. La publicaci\u00f3 de totes les seves obres li va portar anys, des de 1898 fins al 1913. Gaud\u00ed va ser testimoni actiu d&#8217;aquest ambient musical i el va trasllad\u00e0 a la seva obra i vida (3)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Un altre promotor de la m\u00fasica recomanada per Pius X va ser Llu\u00eds Millet, gran amic de Gaud\u00ed i de Pedrell (4).<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Millet \u00e9s fam\u00f3s per haver fundat l\u2019Orfe\u00f3 Catal\u00e0 i el Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana, com vam veure al nostre anterior article (enlla\u00e7: <a href=\"https:\/\/bellesguardgaudi.com\/la-musica-en-tiempos-de-gaudi-visita-al-palau-de-la-musica-catalana\/\">m\u00fasica en temps de Gaud\u00ed<\/a>). El que no se sap tant \u00e9s que Millet, com Gaud\u00ed, era un fervent creient, i com tal, el capdavanter en la implementaci\u00f3 de la reforma lit\u00fargica derivada del Vatic\u00e0. En efecte, parlem de l\u2019esgl\u00e9sia de Sant Felip Neri, el temple favorit de l\u2019arquitecte per sentir -i cantar- la missa. De fet, en aquesta esgl\u00e9sia hi ha un quadre for\u00e7a excepcional (enlla\u00e7:<a href=\"https:\/\/bellesguardgaudi.com\/ca\/saps-que-gaudi-ja-va-apareixer-com-un-sant-estant-viu\/\"> Gaud\u00ed Sant<\/a>). El va pintar Joan Llimona, un dels grans artistes modernistes i, com Gaud\u00ed, un feligr\u00e8s habitual de Sant Felip Neri. Malgrat la c\u00e8lebre timidesa de l\u2019arquitecte, per amistat, Gaud\u00ed es va prestar a fer de model del rostre del sant itali\u00e0. En el quadre veiem a l\u2019arquitecte en una muntanya, en companyia d\u2019un grup de nois cantant i amb instruments musicals. Quadre a l\u2019Oratori de Sant Felip Neri de Barcelona.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ara resulta m\u00e9s f\u00e0cil entendre per qu\u00e8 aquell mes de juny de l&#8217;any 1926, Gaud\u00ed es dirigia cap a Sant Felip Neri, seguint un h\u00e0bit ben arrelat, perqu\u00e8 Gaud\u00ed no anava nom\u00e9s a \u201csentir\u201d m\u00fasica sin\u00f3 a \u201ccantar-la\u201d i xarlar, al acabar, amb els seus amics, com Millet, el m\u00fasic, i Llimona, el pintor<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
