On June 27th, Gaudí’s Torre Bellesguard was once again filled with verses, emotions, and talent during the XVIII Jesús Serra Poetry Awards ceremony. More than just a literary contest, this event has become a celebration of words, creativity, and cultural diversity.

Organized by the Jesús Serra Foundation, the competition aims to promote poetic creation in both Catalan and Spanish, welcoming authors of all ages and nationalities. From young talents to established voices, everyone finds a space here to share their sensitivity and worldview through poetry.

A tribute to art and humanist legacy

The contest pays tribute to Jesús Serra Santamans, founder of the Catalana Occidente Group, who, beyond being a businessman, was a passionate lover of art and poetry. His humanist legacy lives on in each edition of the contest, which seeks to continue his devotion to culture and the written word.

A ceremony full of emotion

The awards ceremony, held in the incomparable setting of Torre Bellesguard, was a day filled with emotion. The modernist gardens welcomed the winners, their families, and poetry lovers in a celebration where the awarded poems were read aloud, honoring the transformative power of literature.

This year’s winners include:

  • Special Award: José Corredor-Matheos
  • Adult Category: Ricardo Pérez (Spanish) and Victòria Also (Catalan)
  • Youth Category: Esteban Reyes (Spanish) and Sandra Guillén (Catalan)
  • Children’s Category: Anna Salichs (Spanish) and Anouk Borràs (Catalan)

Bellesguard, a poetic setting

With its unique history and inspiring architecture, Torre Bellesguard becomes the perfect stage each year for this poetic gathering. Its magical atmosphere and connection to creativity make it an ideal symbol for celebrating art in all its forms.

We are proud to host initiatives like this one, which promote culture, young talent, and dialogue between languages and generations. Because, as the contest’s motto says: “With every poem, a poet is born.”
