A Christmas to Enjoy Together at Bellesguard Gaudí
Christmas is much more than a holiday; it is a time to share with others: family, friends, coworkers… Gathering around a table, the Tió, the tree, or sharing an experience. Christmas is a celebration to enjoy together.
Moreover, with Christmas, which begins with Advent and ends with Epiphany, we say goodbye to the year and welcome the new one. We close chapters, take stock, and at the same time, set new goals for the upcoming stage. A pause, a semicolon to catch our breath and start anew.
From Torre Bellesguard, we wish you a very Merry Christmas in the broadest sense, including all the preparation that has already begun, with festive decorations and the first gift shopping.
We’d like to remind you that a visit to Bellesguard is a fantastic gift for those who, more than a material present, prefer to give experiences and moments of discovery:
And if you have a moment during the holidays, to de-stress from the hustle or walk off the Christmas treats, we await you with great excitement to share the history and culture, and this celebration steeped in centuries of tradition.
Why visit Bellesguard this Christmas?
Because Gaudí has a surprise for us
Gaudí left two clear references to Christmas at Bellesguard, both linked to the stained glass rose window on the main facade.
The first refers to the star that, according to tradition, the Wise Men followed to the nativity. A star represented with eight points, with colors and light that stand out against the starry sky. This is the central star of the stained glass window on Bellesguard’s facade. (1)
The second is an effect recently discovered by Carles Salillas and studied by Galdric Santana, whereby on Christmas Day, the star of the stained glass window is sharply projected onto the white wall of the entrance hall. This symbolic effect is achieved through the study of the sun’s position and movement, a science known as Gnomonics, which Gaudí masterfully employed at Bellesguard. (2)
And because we have created two activities to enjoy Christmas together
One is free and can be enjoyed if you visit us between December 21 and January 5. It’s a simple activity but filled with symbolism: our Wishes Workshop.
The other is a trencadís workshop, Gaudí for a Day, where you will create a piece using Gaudí’s most famous technique to gift or decorate your home this holiday season. This workshop is complemented by a visit to Bellesguard, for a fun-filled morning brimming with art, culture, and history.
