Solidarity: 30th Anniversary of the Ared Foundation Torre Bellesguard

Last night, the 30th anniversary of the Ared Foundation was celebrated at Torre Bellesguard.

The event had a dual purpose: on the one hand, to celebrate the journey and the work done over the past three decades, and on the other, to raise the necessary funds to offer 30 scholarships to 30 women in situations of social vulnerability.

The attendees, through their event tickets and contributions, succeeded in reaching the goal, raising the 75,000 euros needed for this 30×30 project.

The Ared Foundation was founded in 1994 in the sewing workshop of Wad-Ras, the Barcelona Women’s Penitentiary, with the goal of providing training and a second chance to five women deprived of their freedom.

Since then, over 30 years, the foundation has facilitated more than 6,500 job placements among over 17,000 people served, primarily women.

A long journey, one full of reasons to celebrate, and a path that runs parallel to the values of Torre Bellesguard. In fact, from the very beginning, in 2013, we were aware that we didn’t just want to show a historic building, but also open many social windows, such as those of solidarity and synergies.

– Solidarity: we collaborate with different associations and non-governmental organizations to contribute our small part in making the world a better place.

– Synergies: we are open to all kinds of partners, aiming to exchange services, talents, and skills in favor of art and society.

Since the acquisition of Torre Bellesguard by Occident in 2019, this spirit of solidarity and collaboration has been preserved through the Jesús Serra Foundation, which follows the values of the company’s founder, a staunch advocate of humanitarian and cultural projects in support of society.

Therefore, it was a pleasure –and a natural response– to welcome the Ared Foundation on its 30th anniversary. The Nit Ared, held last night at Torre Bellesguard, helped raise the necessary funds to finance 30 scholarships. Thanks to these scholarships, as mentioned earlier, 30 women in vulnerable situations will be able to receive training, empower themselves, and find dignified work. Our journey is their journey. Here’s to many more years! To many more opportunities! To many more paths and open windows!
