For another consecutive year, we have been awarded the Biosphere Sustainable<\/a>\u00a0certification, the leading international sustainability recognition. This distinction fills us with pride, and we are grateful to those responsible for granting it to us.<\/p>\n

At the heart of The values that drive us<\/a>, alongside rigorous historical research<\/strong> and the quality of our guided tours<\/strong> to share this knowledge. Since Torre Bellesguard<\/strong> opened its doors to the public in 2013, we have consistently embraced responsible consumption, waste recycling, and the use of local materials<\/strong>, among other sustainable practices.<\/p>\n

However, in our case\u2014being a Gaud\u00ed<\/strong> building\u2014it couldn\u2019t be any other way. The architect, famous for his deep respect for nature<\/strong> and for revolutionizing modern architecture<\/strong>, was also a pioneer of sustainability<\/strong> and biomimicry<\/strong> (design inspired by biology), even though he never used that term.<\/p>\n

We can see this reflected in the bioclimatic optimization<\/strong> of his buildings, with ingenious solutions for ventilation, natural lighting, and rainwater collection<\/strong>. These principles are evident throughout Torre Bellesguard<\/strong>, along with his studies on acoustics, health, and the social well-being of workers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We also find it in the recycling of discarded materials<\/strong>, which is the foundation of his renowned trencad\u00eds<\/strong> technique\u2014reusing fragments of glass and ceramics for decorative purposes. Additionally, he used affordable and local materials<\/strong>, such as brick and nearby stone. In the case of Bellesguard, this meant slate<\/strong>,\u00a0 from the nearby Collserola<\/strong> mountain range.<\/p>\n

Likewise, his approach extended to the design of furniture, hardware, and architectural details<\/strong>, following principles that we now recognize as ergonomics<\/strong>\u2014as seen in the garden benches and door handles of Bellesguard<\/strong>. These methods continue to be subjects of study and still astonish researchers today.<\/p>\n

For all these reasons, our commitment to sustainability<\/strong> is a matter of consistency<\/strong> with the legacy of Antoni Gaud\u00ed<\/strong>\u2014a legacy that, like nature itself, is linked to the future<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
