Representatives of the buildings designed by Antoni Gaud\u00ed gathered in Comillas this March to celebrate the 140th anniversary of El Capricho.<\/p><\/div>\n

Yesterday, Wednesday, July 9, 2025, the Official State Gazette (BOE) published the approval of the Royal Decree-Law declaring the Gaud\u00ed Centennial 2026 as an Event of Exceptional Public Interest (EEIP), with a duration of three years (2025\u20132027).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Gaud\u00ed Chair at the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya, led by its director Galdric Santana, submitted the application over a year ago on behalf of all buildings designed by Antoni Gaud\u00ed, with the support of numerous institutions and public administrations from various regions of Spain connected to the architect\u2019s legacy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This collaboration among all managers and owners of Gaud\u00ed\u2019s architectural works, along with entities related to his legacy, is a unique and extraordinary case not seen with any other major architect or globally renowned artist.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The commemoration of Gaud\u00ed Year 2026 aims to promote the legacy of Antoni Gaud\u00ed by fostering rigorous research and scholarship around his life and work. It seeks to provide a comprehensive view of his creative process and to highlight some of his lesser-known works.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The buildings supporting the celebration include: Nau Gaud\u00ed, Sagrada Fam\u00edlia, Casa Vicens, G\u00fcell Pavilions, Palau G\u00fcell, Col\u00b7legi Santa Teresa, Torre Bellesguard, Park G\u00fcell, Crypt of Col\u00f2nia G\u00fcell, First Mystery of Glory of Montserrat, Gate of the Miralles Estate, Casa Batll\u00f3, Casa Mil\u00e0 (La Pedrera), the Gaud\u00ed Casa Botines Museum in Le\u00f3n, the Gaud\u00ed Palace in Astorga, El Capricho in Comillas (Cantabria), and the Cathedral of Mallorca.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Institutional support for the initiative has come from the Government of Catalonia, Barcelona City Council, Barcelona Provincial Council, Col\u00f2nia G\u00fcell Consortium, Baix Llobregat County Council, the city councils of Matar\u00f3, Reus, Riudoms, Le\u00f3n, Astorga, and Comillas, the University of Le\u00f3n, the Government of Cantabria\u2019s Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport, the Presidency Department of the Junta of Castile and Le\u00f3n, the University of Barcelona, and the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
