October 31, 2025

Yesterday, October 30th, 2025, the press conference for the presentation of the Gaudí Year 2026 was held, marking the centenary of the death of the greatest ambassador of our country.

Gaudí Year 2026 has been declared an Official Commemoration by the Government of Catalonia and an Event of Special Public Interest by the Ministry of Culture.

It involves the collaboration and joint efforts of all of Antoni Gaudí’s works, both those located in Catalonia and the four works situated in other parts of Spain, as well as other entities responsible for the dissemination and preservation of his legacy.

The goal for 2026 is to bring the figure and work of the architect closer to the local population, especially young people and children, through a scientific and rigorous approach. Gaudí will be explained through the interrelation of his works, interpreted collectively, with special emphasis on his lesser-known creations, such as the Bellesguard Tower.

Óscar Andel participated in the press conference on behalf of GCO, owner of the Bellesguard Tower, to exemplify the private management of Gaudí’s legacy and to highlight Bellesguard as a still undiscovered work of Antoni Gaudí.

The spotlight was on Galdric Santana, curator of Gaudí Year 2026, who is also the director of the Gaudí Chair at UPC, the conservation architect of the Bellesguard Tower, and director of the Bellesguard Research Group. Santana outlined the objectives for the year and the main joint events planned for 2026.
