November 5, 2025
Today, Torre Bellesguard was the setting for the press conference launching the 2025 edition of La Marató by TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio, which this year focuses on the fight against cancer.
It will also be the broadcasting location for the morning segment of La Marató program, airing on Sunday, December 14, featuring interviews, musical performances, and live connections.
This location is no coincidence.
Between 1944 and 1969, Bellesguard served as an oncology hospital under the direction of Dr. Lluís Guilera Molas, a pioneer in cancer treatment.
And we are approaching the Gaudí Year 2026, which marks the centenary of Antoni Gaudí’s death.
A Gaudí-designed building that once served as an oncology hospital makes Bellesguard an exceptional set for this edition of La Marató, one of the most important national events in Catalonia.
A Campaign Focused on Prevention
La Marató 2025 carries the slogan “Let’s Detect It, Let’s Fix It”, with a clear message: early detection and medical action are key to saving lives. Cancer is a disease that can appear at any time and includes over 200 types. In Catalonia, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will develop cancer during their lifetime, highlighting the importance of research and awareness.
Impact and Solidarity
In recent editions, La Marató has raised an average of €11.5 million, funding 1,048 research projects involving 11,541 researchers. Since its inception, it has raised €257.5 million, making it a unique initiative in Europe.
Donations can be made year-round at lamarato.cat, via Bizum (33333), or by bank transfer. December 14 will be the main event day, with a major television, radio, and digital broadcast to inform, raise awareness, and collect funds.
La Marató is more than just a program: it’s a solidarity movement that saves lives. Let’s Detect It, Let’s Fix It. Together, we make research possible.
