In recent days, an emergency intervention has been carried out on the pinnacle of Torre Bellesguard, one of the most distinctive elements of Antoni Gaudí’s work in Barcelona.

Over time, some pieces of the trencadís had become detached, creating a potential risk of falling from the tower’s 33-metre height. The most affected areas were the darker sections of the mosaic, particularly the red of the Catalan flag, one of the most characteristic features of the structure.

To ensure visitor safety and preserve this heritage element, a protective net has been installed. This solution prevents further detachment and helps conserve the trencadís while a more comprehensive restoration is being prepared.

Torre Bellesguard is planning to carry out general restoration works in the near future, which will include the full restoration of this pinnacle, with the aim of preserving it in the long term and maintaining the building’s heritage value.

This intervention was promoted by GCO, owners of Torre Bellesguard, and carried out under the direction of Bis Arquitectura, with the participation of Urcotex and the high-altitude specialists Vertisub. The process was also supervised by Galdric Santana, conservation architect of Torre Bellesguard.

This action reflects Torre Bellesguard’s ongoing commitment to preserving modernist heritage and ensuring a safe experience for all visitors.
