On Saturday, November 8, the opening ceremony of Gaudí Year 2026 took place during a full-day event: in Riudoms in the morning and in Reus in the afternoon.
Representatives from all of Antoni Gaudí’s works attended the first official event of the year.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Salvador Illa, and the Minister of Culture, Sònia Hernàndez.

In 2026, we mark 100 years since the death of Antoni Gaudí, one of the most influential architects in the history of world architecture.
The anniversary has been declared an Official Commemoration by the Generalitat of Catalonia and also a Special Public Interest Event (SPIE) by the Ministry of Culture of Spain.

Galdric Santana is the Director of the Gaudí Chair at UPC and Commissioner of the Year. He has a long-standing connection with Torre Bellesguard, serving as its conservation architect and leading the Bellesguard research group.
